Hardness: Bitumen with a penetration grade of 80/100 is relatively soft compared to other grades. This makes it suitable for use in temperate climates where flexibility in the pavement is needed to cope with temperature variations.

Bitumen 80/100 has Thermoplastic properties, this property has a direct effect on the viscosity of bitumen, which increases the viscosity at low temperatures and decreases the viscosity at high temperatures.
It is worth mentioning that one of the other important applications of Bitumen 80/100 would be in the preparation of hot asphalt and road surface.

The use of bitumen depends on the climatic conditions of those areas, for example, in areas with hot Climates, hard bitumen with a lower degree of penetration will use, and also in areas with colder Climates, softer bitumen with a higher degree of penetration will use.
